Assa Henda Haidara

Growing Up

I am getting older
I am learning to make my own decisions,
I like my own direction.
I do not need anybody to embrace
But to require my independence
It’s impossible, it seems,
Today, no longer a child
But not yet an adult
I am following myself
You can see it in my eyes,
Read it in my face
But, my intelligence is a word that you can never replace.

  2. I like the lines which say "no longer a child
But not yet an adult." I think your poem is very good and it has a very deep meaning.
